Were the Expectations of the Rare Coca Cola Bottle Auction Price to High?

I was on BBC website the other day looking at the weather when I saw a video on the side of the page saying, Rare Coca-Cola bottle up for auction in a California. It grabbed my attention so thought would watch it. The video was about a designed Coca-Cola bottle that was in the process of being developed but then the drinks company scrapped the bottle. Only two of these rare bottles were ever made as prototypes but know one knows why it never went to market. The designer of this bottle had this copy on sale and Coca-Cola owns the last copy of the bottle.

This image of the 125th anniversary bottle of Coca Cola is a copy of the first ever bottle made by the company. I thought that this would eventually be worth quite a lot of money as its a copy of the original design, this design set of the history of Coca Cola, but i was wrong.

They suggested that this bottle will sell between $100,000 - $200,000 in California. If i am completely honest, when I heard this I wasn’t really shocked. They claim that it this bottle is the second copy in history, a design that never went to production so completely rare in comparison to everything else. Then when you put all those factors together surely the price would be more? When I read the headline – “Rare, Coca-Cola bottle up for auction in California” I immediately thought around a million pound!! So when I saw it was between $100,000 - $200,000 I was shocked, to be honest it’s cheap!
